It is risky. The two of us talked out every scenariou we could think of, including the ones that go wrong. Used to use Craigslist to find men (it's dead for that now), hubby did all of that, now have a fairly decent list of sometimes availables if we ever do it again. Embarrased and shy comes with the territory, as does getting over it.
